August 25, 2019 - Drank from Magnum. I agree with other tasters that the wine was flawed. Not corked, but a slight flaw. Had right bank characteristics on the nose early in the evening, but devolved over 2 hours. We held back about 375ml to taste at 4 hours, and it was gone - just the flaw remaining. A shame, as I have had this bottle since release. It should have held up well in magnum, but did not. Second bottle of Dominus (2009) that I have had in the past month that has disappointed. Not convinced yet that this wine belongs amongst the top end Bordeaux-style Napa blends.

June 20, 2019 - A little hard for me to calibrate, as I rarely drink top-end Cal Cabs, but this was a nice bottle. Dark and youthful in the decanter. The nose was a bit hot for me, but showed pencil shavings and herbs. The palate was a bit more fruity, with prune or overripe plum and a hint of brett perhaps. Fairly silky, I would have guessed a modern high-end Bordeaux from a ripe vintage.

May 27, 2019 - The deepest, saturated flavors. This is without parallel. Beyond the dark plums, the black cherries, and the intoxicating complexity, there is the edge of Brettanomyces that crept into 1990s Dominus.

May 15, 2019 - Acker May Auction 2019 (Zuma): Magnum. Deep woody nose and elegance among style. Fantastic balance and clarity. 95

(Dominus) What a nose! Leather, jammy fruit, smoke, oak, mocha, hint of dried cherry. Reminded me of a 1990 Montrose I had recently on the nose. The palate was pretty good. No complaints here. Glyceril, jammy, super-ripe, balanced, layered, and long. Lighter than I expected. I never have had Dominus until tonight and it was everything it was built up to be. Easily the most Bordeaux-like Cali wine I have ever had. Still though it has that jammy fruit aspect that distinguishes it. Very nice.
