November 8, 2019 - Napa Cult CabSav 1994 dinner (Singapore): John Daniel Jr. sold this old and famous vineyard to Moueix family. Another stet up in richness from Opus one. Blueberry, Xmas cake, licorice. I felt a little volatile acidity as well. Still very good if you like it a touch richer.

November 1, 2019 - Elegant, balanced, structured, and drinking so well.

The nose immediately took me to Bordeaux with its lead, black fruit, tobacco, soil, and crushed stone. The wine was unbelievably nuanced and kept evolving throughout the afternoon. Lovely, layered, and so approachable. This can continue to age long into the future. What a showing and a yet another new benchmark for Napa Cab. An experience to remember!

November 1, 2019 - A lost Friday afternoon gathering – Mostly blind, some double blind (Blacksalt, Washington DC): Very Bordeaux like but quite. Expressive youthful nose displaying perfectly ripe black fruit, crème de cassis, blackberry, tobacco, a hint of ash, cedar and crushed rocks. Beautifully balanced palate, layers upon layers of perfectly ripe black fruit, exceptional weight yet silky and polished, perfect amount of acidity and mineral, noticeable very fine tannins and a long sweet cassis fruit driven finish. Although domestic for certain, it is the most restrained and claret like wine. This remains extremely youthful and can easily improve for another decade or two. My favorite domestic red and the second favorite after the 82 Mouton.

September 29, 2019 - This wine showed again amazing and again different from the other bottles from this case I had over the past two years. This was the first bottle that was completely dominated by brett. So much barnyard funk along the still intact fruit core. Experience tasters who had it blind guessed it to be an old school Palmer. With 30+ years of age. Definitely a Bordeaux-styled Napa Cab here where just the slightly riper profile than the average Medoc has could lead you to guessing it to be Napa. Wonderful and with a lot of life left.

TN: Pure magic! A highly complex wine displaying full power barnyard funk, leather, wet forest floor, some tobacco, meaty tones, dark cassis fruit core, lots of herbs. The wine is deep and dense but with no sense of weight. The tannins are mellowed and the acidity is perfectly integrated. Quite high precision and good length. For a higher rating the precision and tension should have been even a tad higher.

Decanting: This bottle didn’t need any decanting, others of the same case needed an hour+ while one bottle was rather a bit advanced.

September 28, 2019 - Beautiful wine right in it's window for drinking. Lots of floral notes (lavender, paper whites, etc). Licorice, light tar, Medium body but very layered and 3 dimensional on the palette. Very Bordeaux driven

(Dominus) What a nose! Leather, jammy fruit, smoke, oak, mocha, hint of dried cherry. Reminded me of a 1990 Montrose I had recently on the nose. The palate was pretty good. No complaints here. Glyceril, jammy, super-ripe, balanced, layered, and long. Lighter than I expected. I never have had Dominus until tonight and it was everything it was built up to be. Easily the most Bordeaux-like Cali wine I have ever had. Still though it has that jammy fruit aspect that distinguishes it. Very nice.
