Superbe. 94-95 pts

January 19, 2020 - Cork immediately plunged into bottle which was worrisome but...wine is intact
N - earthy, funky, attractive barnyard, olive tapenade
M - very alive, lush fruit, sour plum, dark berry, great acidity and savory to boot. If stored properly I think this wine still has quite some life.

January 14, 2020 - Dinner with Herwig (Heirloom cafe): On opening was a bit tight. 1 hour later, an intoxicating nose of red and black fruit, forest floor, leafy; palate is full bodied, lovely integrated tannins, black fruits, complex and deep; medium-long finish. This is improving and just lovely. 94
Day 2: this has a bit more noticeable Brett than yesterday, but still not bad for me. The complexity isn’t quite as intense, but still balanced and nice overall. Drink up the first day though. 92

December 31, 2019 - Brief note. PNP. cork was perfect. Paired with lamb leg and this was dynamite. showing its age but not in a negative way. compared favorably to '94 Latour but the Latour edged it out in the end. Still kept pace and was really delicious.

(Dominus) What a nose! Leather, jammy fruit, smoke, oak, mocha, hint of dried cherry. Reminded me of a 1990 Montrose I had recently on the nose. The palate was pretty good. No complaints here. Glyceril, jammy, super-ripe, balanced, layered, and long. Lighter than I expected. I never have had Dominus until tonight and it was everything it was built up to be. Easily the most Bordeaux-like Cali wine I have ever had. Still though it has that jammy fruit aspect that distinguishes it. Very nice.
