Community Tasting Notes 2

  • caspernick Does not like this wine: 78 points

November 15, 2023 - Medium ruby colored with medium viscosity (12.5% ABV). The nose has medium (-) intensity aromas of plum, asparagus, chocolate powder and blackberry. The green vegetal note is out of place. The palate is dry with medium (-) acidity and low tannins. A lightweight body produces some mediocre flavors of plum and black cherry but the green vegetable thing is still there and it's off-putting. The wine has a funkiness about it that I don't care for, it's prevalent on the mid palate and the short finish. I much preferred the straight up Cabernet Sauvignon from Frontera. This $8 per magnum bottle gets 78 points and a pass rec with 1 star. It's not worth the effort.

November 28, 2007 - $7.50 for 1.5L Magnum. Usually a little funky/vegetal on the first day, but that always goes away quickly and reveals a nice smooth fruity wine. Dominant flavor is black cherry, with very little complexity. Hardly any tannin. This doesn't offer much in the way of cab character, but it is a decent daily drinker for the price. Great QPR.
