December 5, 2014 - Liquid Farm, Janasse, Fontodi, Wind Gap, Thackrey ++; 12/5/2014-12/6/2014 (TNT): I was a bit disappointed by this. I had it a few years ago IIRC right after release and I quite enjoyed it. I love Viognier from the Rhone, but seldom from California. On release, it was fresh, floral and the oak seemed quite in check. That was also from Magnum. This bottle seems well past prime to me. The fruit is present but the floral qualities are faded. The oak while not dominating, is much more present and persistent. There is also some heat/oak on the finish. It is better on the palate, than the nose. I am probably being a bit harsh as I had higher expectations. This is still better than most Viognier from CA, IMO. In any event, I would drink these in their first year or two, which is probably my advice on most Viogniers, even the ones that do age well.

September 21, 2014 - The color alone lets you know this is an assertive wine - yellow golden with perhaps the slightest tinge of green at the edge. On the nose and the palate - deep and round, ripe melon and ... I cannot say, a counterpoint of acidity. This worked quite well with the food, an onion tart in a buttery pastry crust, but I think would have been less appealing on its own.
    Rated 1 on a scale of -1 to 3.

July 22, 2013 - This wine is an enigma. If very cold, it is very one note and fits many of the other reviews. As it warms a bit, the nuances come out and it is tasty. Still well below the 2011, but tasty and well done.

July 5, 2013 - Thin with a flat taste and lacks back bone. I am not sure how much of the lacking is because of the vintage.
