October 10, 2009 - Mature Bordeaux tasting (Le Papilion): Dark red color with an orange hue. Sweet nose with warm blackcurrant fruit, mint and raisin. Juicy and sweet blackcurrant fruit on the palate, some cedar wood and mint on the midpalate and finish. Exciting and fresh, yet a bit one dimensional.

March 6, 2004 - This wine has had a varied storage history. In the nearly 15 years my father has owned it, it has moved 3 times. It has never been in a truly temperature controlled environment. For much of that time it sat in a rack in their kitchen. Despite showing lots of ullage, this wine is very much alive. The color is a garnet with a hint of brick on the rim. The nose shows wet earth, iodine, and some crushed blackberries. The mouthfeel is medium in weight. At first open, this wine was plagued by an astringent finish. Now after 90 minutes open, that is gone. I find some bottle sweetness, red fruit, and some dust on the finish. Though this wine is in good shape, it is lacking great complexity or depth.
