January 11, 2015 - Not an especially complex wine to begin with, I had lowered expectations for this, my last bottle... but I was pleasantly surprised, as this was just plain delicious. I preferred it to the 2010 version I've tasted a couple times in the last year.
* Day 1: Great cherry flavor and just hints of the leather. (The dusty tannins and much more noticeable leather of from a 2012 tasting had lent it a pleasing mouthfeel which was missing here, but had blended smoothly into the background.) Nicely balanced acidity - enough to go well with food, and not so much to detract from leisurely enjoying a half-glass after dinner.
* Day 2: Still present with sufficient freshness and classic Barbera notes to sip and savor.
* Day 3: Had enough fruit and acidity left to make the last glass enjoyable.
Overall, 89-90. -

February 16, 2014 - Delicious Barbera - about as good as the last bottle, but not as good as I once remembered it.

November 10, 2013 - Solid domestic Barbera and better than many Italian Barberas I've had in the same price range. Not quite as good as the last bottle we had more than a year ago. (89-90 now, would have rated previous bottle slightly higher.) Suspect that the peak has arrived. A little less "rustic" than I remember this new world wine was previously.

February 1, 2013 - Consistent with prior notes; this wine continues to impress with new world fruit and old world nuances. Nicely balanced fruit, earth and minerality with a deep penetrating finish. Paired nicely with Italian fare.

12/20/2011 (link) *** points(Tranche Cellars Barbera Columbia Valley) Ripe, rich fruit flavors rise up from the glass including raspberries and red plums along with sweet spices and crushed nuts. The palate is full and broad with soft tannins and a tart kick to keep it all together. An enjoyable example of this seldom seen varietal. 100% Barbera. Aged 42 months in neutral French oak. 15.2% alcohol. Sample provided by winery. 525 cases produced. Recommended
