September 28, 2019 - Noble oak, nail polish, acetic nose, walnut.
Very dry, long and profound. Not the most complex amontillado but very enjoyable.

April 17, 2016 - Purchased in 2003 and stored in my cellar ever since. No VORS indication - probably bottled before the advent of this qualification in 2001. Pristine condition, driven cork, red wax capsule, cork extracted without the slightest difficulty, 19% ABV. Medium deep, sombre amber colour, meniscus shot with green; very classical Amontillado nose, deep and woodsy, salty, lifted but not volatile, with white almonds and hazelnuts, vestiges of candied fruit; the palate is bone-dry but not dried out, has sufficient glycerine for balance, quite acidic and salty, savoury, very intense and concentrated, complete but terse in its flavour expression, hint of vanillin; extremely long finish. I would be very much surprised if this was much younger than 40 years of age. An uncompromising wine for aficionados, but not unapproachable.

December 5, 2014 - This Amontillado has a better nose than mouth. In the nose, it is a good Amontillado. However, in the mouth, there is a strong acidity that makes it difficult to drink. Substandard Sherry and not the quality that I expect on a VORS Amontillado.

August 30, 2014 - Nose of Golden Syrup, nuts, and Christmas spices in the pantry (cinnamon, raisins, cloves). On first tasting it feels like there is less there - it's thinner, finer, and doesn't volunteer much, but it broadens out on the back of the palate with a warmth (19%) and richness. Saline and savoury, like Marmite but balanced with just a touch of sweetness. Very long. Great aperitif.

November 28, 2013 - I cannot abide heavily waxed bottles that require half an hour to open, followed by half the crumbly cork ending in the bottle - but even after my ire had dampened this is a little disappointing - seems that its great age has left it tired, all the usual flavours there but not the intensity
