Community Tasting Notes 7

February 10, 2024 - At first tight and port/sherry tasting. Evolved to a warm classic Cabernet.

May 16, 2021 - Dark purple-red with a nose that didn't give up much at first, but which then yielded eucalyptus. The wine was medium weight with soft, mellow tannins, cool, dark fruit, including blueberry and something a touch brighter. This gave notes of molasses, soy, and eucalyptus. Lovely, not profound.

November 25, 2020 - From 375. Good fill into high shoulder. Solid cork came out in one piece with Durand. Let sit for a couple of hours upon opening, no decant.
Surprisingly deep crimson color with just a hint of bricking on the rim. Strong notes of leather, eucalyptus and brown sugar on the nose. Soy, brown sugar and blackberry fruit on the attack, but still has a nice backbone of acid and mellow but still present tannins. A lovely little bottle of California Cabernet history.

May 13, 2016 - This was in surprisingly good shape and performed better than we expected. it tasted amazingly young for it's age with plenty of fruit still apparent. Amazing what old Napa could do with these wines, this would have beaten many bordeaux of the same timeframe. Definitely Old World with some new world fruit.

December 16, 2015 - Ifune in NYC (Frankie & Johnnie's Steakhouse, NYC): Such a serious, deep wine, still holding a core of dense fruit, with an old-world profile of graphite, cedar, sage and earth. So layered, so alive and seemingly still has more to give. This bottle was in superb condition and the contents really showed it.
