October 9, 2021 - Different from the 2005 version that I have last night. This is more youthful and fruity but still at full maturity and peak. It does have some acidity which may indicate further age ability but based on the 2004 and 2005 being at peak I would not push my luck. It definitely benefits from some breathing. Cherry, dark fruits, Earth, dark plums. Excellent qpr. Long finish. Delicious.

September 4, 2020 - Inky dark color. Explosive jammy BlackBerry bouquet. Dense and concentrated with ripe primary fresh fruit flavors of blackberries, blueberries, grape jam, cassis. Wow this is entering its plateau of maturity it is all youthful fruity flavors but the tannins have subsided. Right now this is showing the best of the 2004 2005 and 2006 versions of this wine. it should develop some more as far as secondary flavors and even possibly more complexity it is certainly enjoyable now. Drink now and over the next 5 years possibly longer

February 28, 2016 - The highlight of the evening. EL26 is a beautiful mix of CS, Carigñan, Garnacha and Syrah with all the complexity you would expect from this wine.

It's nose is all over the place from wild raspberries to cherries and plums and in the end vaguely black current and dark plums. High in tannins (improved with a good airing), a little lower in acidity. Quite fiery and really full bodied.

After the tasting I had it with Italian salami. It paired deliciously.

    35% Garnatxa, 25% Syrah, 20% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon

November 16, 2012 - I know this wine continues to have its polarizing following, with passionate lovers and haters, given its unique and clearly earthy qualities, I love it. The earth and mineral almost accentuate every flavor in the mouth and add so much complexity to it - that I think the mouth will explode.

This wine is a lovely blend of 35% Grenache, 35% Syrah, and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. It starts with an aromatic nose of anise, ripe blackberry, black pepper, raspberry, and plum. The mouth is full and concentrated with mouth coating tannin, nice dirt, graphite, black cherry, ripe fruit, with spicy wood all coming together into a nice mouth. Finish is long with spice, mineral, herb, eucalyptus, tobacco, and chocolate. This is a massive and extracted wine with ripe fruit and one that balances well with the oak and spice.
