November 12, 2018 - Might have waited too long. This has definitely pivoted to an aged grenache, with a bit of port quality to it. Not necessarily my thing but others really enjoyed it.

This On The Road Grenache aged nicely while the Syrah went down the drain..
This is BIG and juicy but exceptionally well integrated - as you would expect at this late stage. Wants a good amount of air before it shows well.
This OTR makes an exquisite high-end pizza wine, like the mascarpone pizza from Pizzetta 211 in San Francisco. Stunning.
Agree with others this likely is on its last legs - drink 'em if you got 'em. -

October 16, 2016 - After Generous air time this wine is heavily scented with notes of tar, blueberry and raspberry sauce, dried strawberries, rhubarb, mulling spices, herbs, dried flowers, velour, smoked game meats, chocolate truffle and cola.
A structured full-bodied palate shows bold flavors of blueberry pie, raspberry compote, chocolate covered cherries, strawberry and rhubarb with notes of lavender, white pepper, tar, smoked meats and spices with hints of herbs and cola. Long on the finish with grip leaving one with lingering thoughts of blueberry waffles and sweet pipe tobacco.
Overall an awesome showing of Grenache from the '09 vintage.
