Community Tasting Notes 9

February 28, 2022 - A bit disappointing. Decanted only 45 minutes, but it was quite closed. Two hours later it still had not opened up significantly. Perhaps leave the others for a year and see if anything improves.

March 5, 2019 - Light ruby, starting to turn to orange on the edges.
Red fruits, with a bit of sour cherries. Earth and notes of allspice on the palate.
Light-medium bodied with good acid, extremely mild tannins. Delicious!

July 17, 2018 - Opened to discover prior light seepage on cork top. Corked contents.

February 16, 2018 - Opened and allowed to slow ox for about 75 minutes. Not offering much aromatically as the bottle was tight. On the palate this had red fruits, good acidity, and not much else going on. Some spicy, bordering on hot characteristics. Very plodding on the palate overall.

I also have the 2009 Louis Latour les Mitans Volnay. My experience with that wine was it was superb younger but with age it bears some resemblance to this tasting experience. Either both wines are in a dumb phase or Louis Latour should be consumed younger.

I am not sure where this evolves, but I won’t be expecting improvement from here.

March 9, 2015 - Medium colour with a spicy red fruit nose. Medium weight with still a noticeable hint of tannin. It's fresh, crunchy and linear with sound structure, good balance and a positive finish. Bags of energy, but not particularly complex. An immensely enjoyable wine with food, but not really one to dwell on and discuss the merits of. It's straightforward in the same way as a fine Cru Beaujolais like Moulin-a-vent is. Very good though. Estimated maturity: 2016-2021.
