March 2, 2024 - Vietti Rocche Vertical: Enjoyed over a couple of hours with friends, this vintage had a surprising dominance of darker fruits compared to the rest of the Rocche's this evening. The aromas had interesting layers of mossy wet bark and capers, all framed by dark berries. On the palate, I noticed dark cherries, rhubarb, and wet tobacco leaf, with an elegant level of tannins. This was quite different from the '04, which was my favorite of the lineup, but it still had the depth and complexity I love in Barolos. I would love to try this again in 5-10 years to compare. 93-94

February 5, 2024 - What a delight. Decanted. Beautifully round and potent tannins, dare I say even a little rough to begin with but it dances around delightfully in the finish. I am going through a phase with Nebbiolo at the moment and can’t get enough of this. Not ready - try again in 8-10 years.

May 28, 2023 - 3rd bottle of the night. Paired with pulpo a la marinara. The rapture is nigh

March 12, 2023 - Incredibly pretty nose with layers of rose petal, cherries, strawberries, tar, a hint of mushrooms, and floral notes. Great acidity with structural but surprise fly integrated tannins, more red fruit, berry, and flower flavors and a lovely forest notes on the palate. Long finish. Absolutely fantastic wine, it’s still youthful with lots of primary flavors, but amazing complexity and some tertiary notes staring to come through. I was expecting a much heavier wine, this feels light on its feet despite the 14.5% alcohol and the warm vintage. Outstanding!

November 28, 2022 - A minor disappointment given the wine and the producer. Was never really forthcoming and never got the nose that you hope for. I may not have given this a long enough decant. (~1 hour). Served with a really rich beef stew.
