March 26, 2021 - 3 hours decanted. Light bricking at the edge. Otherwise blood red to the core.
Hedonistic nose of red cherries, blackberry, blueberry and a mix of cinnamon and other baking spices.
Well integrated on the palate, full body, medium acid, medium tannin. This baby has time but it’s outrageously good right now. Enjoy over the next 10+ years.

June 10, 2020 - A second bottle from a poorly stored case (10 years at room temp above a wine fridge instead of inside...).
Obviously advanced age with garnet color and chestnut rim
Rich cherry tobacco and port flavors
    Utterly delicious if advanced.
Served blind I almost thought this could be an old zin of great pedigree, tannins melted away.

    April 3, 2020 - A remarkable wine!
This wine was unfortunately found stored at room temp for 10 years...
But despite a disintegrated cork was in perfect shape. (Although perhaps a bit more advanced than expected)

Deep ruby purple with a garnet rim
    Ripe cherry tobacco scents
    Sweet truly port-like flavors.
    Really quite remarkable and delicious.
    Imagine perfect storage?

    February 14, 2020 - A remarkable bottle of wine!
Deep rich color, a room-enveloping bouquet, great flavor and a finish that goes on and on and on. And, this is still a youthful wine. As Robert Frost might have said, it has years to go before its peak.
It exhibited great depth for such a youthful wine, the dark fruit was pure and expressive, it coats the mouth with flavors of spice, earth, chocolate, the right touch of oak and a remarkable smoothness. And the never-ending finish almost begs you to open another bottle.
I cannot wait to see what this wine is like in a few years. If it continues its evolution (which I believe it will), it will certainly merit a higher score.
It was a truly impressive wine that was the perfect complement to a beautifully prepared tenderloin.
    WOW!

So, how it did compare with a stunning 2001 Spottswoode? Interesting question ... for another day.

October 2, 2015 - Decanted 2 hours before drinking. Deep ruby color leads to a nose of currant, black cherry and chocolate. The velvety smooth medium full body engulfs the palate with dark fruit, cocoa, hints of Asian spice and glove leather. Sweet finish lasts 50 seconds.

This is a beautiful wine drinking great now with a decant. Enjoy!
