August 7, 2015 - The Miya never lived up to e.g. Huber or Babcock according to my palate. But this time I was a slightly breath taken. The 2010 Miya is certainly blossoming right now. The nose is totally amazing. It is full of the rich ripe colza, fresh corn and subtle tones of oyster and seaweed. The palate is balanced and nicely integrated. It delivers an experience which is certainly on par with the nose tonight. An adorable and certainly lovely effort!

March 14, 2014 - Without doubt a lovely wine. The nose is somewhat amazing. It is actually quite a schoolbook Chardonnay full of the rich fresh corn, marigold and subtle tones of shellfish. I simply cannot get enough of this "typicity" and complexity. It is just adorable. The palate is balanced and nicely integrated but lacks the oohmpf component found in the nose. The mid palate is a bit empty and the length on the finish lasts some 30 seconds. The nose clearly scores 93-94, but the nose lowers the overall score to a solid 91 - which is still very good!

February 24, 2013 - this is a special wine, as good as it gets for chard from this region. as this opened up it increased in it's similarities to puligny montrachet. minerality and acidity gained complexity. next bottle i'm opting for a one hour decant on this!

February 23, 2013 - Clear yellow with medium viscosity in the glass. Lemon oil, melon, forest floor, sage and mint on the nose. Medium body with driven and focused layers of citrus and tropical fruit, sea water, white pepper and white tea on the palate. Secondary flowers. Just enough structure to hold its weight. Balanced with clear terroir and hand. Long, mouthwatering finish. Very good with shellfish. Watch out Bourgogne.

October 23, 2012 - These diatom wines are very unusual. They are so crisp and lively, and if I were tasting blind I would not begin to place this as California. Yet, they do have generous, pure fruit, and my wife, who is a good taster but no expert, actually did peg it blind as California chardonnay because of the fruit character. It has a lot of character -- I get this sort of unusual note of hay that a little off-putting but yet intriguing.
