Community Tasting Notes 6

January 5, 2018 - The first taste since the 2012 note and worth the wait. Delicious aroma of black cherry, plums. It might be more of a ripe Tuscan merlot or a sweet cherry tasting southern brunello -- except this wine comes from the hills north of Montosoli. More of earthy aromatics on the second day, with some steeped tea tannins in the finish. A balanced, elegant, sweet cherry and grape must tasting wine, touched by a well integrated French oak. Excellent.

March 3, 2014 - dark red, bold, good nose, currant, leather, oak sensations, tannins
    Ferrini-styled

November 11, 2013 - Young but approachable. Nose reveals classic Brunello aromas - deep perfume of dusty cherries, morello cherry, sous bois, forest floor. Very tannic - but very polished. Begins to soften with time in decanter. Great color and concentration showing a fair amount of extraction. Rich red legs.

July 5, 2013 - Perfect pairing for a July 4 steak dinner on the deck. Great balance, long finish and top scores from guests. Came in much higher than average "community score" of 89.

February 14, 2012 - Needed at least an hour to shed most of the barn funk on the nose. Yielding little now, the aroma is more of a generic merlot than of ripe sangiovese. Tight on the palate, tannic, showing little of forward fruit. Can hardly believe this the same lush wine that I enjoyed at the trade tasting. Hoping this is an odd bottle. Reserve judgment for now.
