May 1, 2015 - Browning;truffle & rose petal, plus hedgerow decay; rather severe with grippy tannins, faded fruit & acidity to the fore; demands food but ultimately an attenuated finish is the final result. A difficult wine.Softened & broadened 24 hours on, so may improve will more time.

September 21, 2012 - I really liked this a lot: it's quite sophisticated right now with burgundian qualities. It's also in a very drinkable phase right now but I suspect it might even improve a bit with year or two in the cellar. The colour is translucent bright ruby red with a brick red rim. On the nose it's open and very fragrant with red berries, floral notes and slight touch of darker, smoke-like aromas. The palate is mid-weight and fresh with the components from the nose copied here nicely. There's brisk acidity that sustains the tension long into the aftertaste. This leaves a very refreshing feeling. Excellent.

March 31, 2012 - Pale ruby color. Lingonberries, sweet and concentrated oak, some rusticity and a whiff of Nebbiolo florals in the nose. Very soft in the mouth for a Nebbiolo: surprisingly little acidity and tannins going on here; they don't dominate but instead give a nice backbone to the wine. On the palate sweet cherry aromas and chocolate-y oak that begins to dominate as more astringent woodiness and sweet vanilla extract upon opening. The wine has a grippy finish with bitter wood aromas, peppery spice, cocoa and lingering vanilla.

As a food wine Inferno Mazér did pair nicely with a dish of duck in Port sauce, but on its own the oak dominated quite heavily - Nebbiolo aromatics were practically drowned under the wood aromas and the wine appeared as quite one-sided. Easy and nondescript Lombardy Nebbiolo that is at 18,28€ a decent buy for those who enjoy heavily oaked wines. To those who don't, skip this wine.

July 16, 2011 - Acidc, tight and herbal with some flower. Smells greasy. Not balanced - where is the fruit?

April 27, 2011 - Sweetish nose with some heat, heavy inarticulated oak, tar, some mushroom and a touch of mint.
Rather big palate with quite pronounced tannins and balancing acidity. Sweetness from alcohol, sweetish raspberry to cherry fruit, tar, tobacco, medicinal liquorice and chocolate. Quite lengthy aftertaste: astringent and harsh.
Dull first impression. There's just no class. How will time affect the wine? I have no idea.

On day2 the big, sweet and toasted oak is heavy on the nose. Slightly reminescent to young modern Bdx. Vanilla, cherry liquor, smoke, wild animal and dill notes.
Sweetish fruit, big sweet oak and clove really pushing through. Nice intensity on the palate and the heat isn't bothering me anymore. But no subtleties whatsoever. The tannins have faded a bit and the aftertaste remains quite lengthy, but is still almost pure oak. Perhaps a hint of something floral. Quite awkward and rather harsh finish.

Tasted this through the week, but there really wasn't any significant improvement - though the oak does tone down and the fruit has no problem keeping alive. Ok, I'd like to taste this again after some five years (if someone pours me a glass).
