August 19, 2006 - This wine had a very, very nice core of sexy, irriestible, 10 year old fruit (dark cherries, leather, dark, muddy earth) but it was wrapped tight in tannin, and it's hard to believe that this effect is ever going to resolve. This bottle was decanted into a decanter and then started after an hour of air. The first hour of drinking was quite nice, and the nose was of a dreamy quality, but the wine slipped into an acid haze after that and become more and more harsh.

September 30, 2005 - This was brought to Haggis' house last weekend by Mark Horvatich I believe. Perhaps my perception of this wine is off because at least one other member of the board who was present at this tasting liked it very much. It did not impress me. It had a lovely sweet nose. Upfront it showed rich fruit but faded very quickly on the palate. The tannins were very light. Left me with the impression that this was over the hill. 85-86 points.

September 24, 2005 - Very dark in the glass, looks very young. I enjoyed this one. Nose showed spice and cherries, with tart cherry fruit on the palate.

September 26, 2004 - With air this has picked up a lot of weight and become much more lush. At first it was a little thin and tired, and I worried it was over the hill. Now that it is out of it slumber I get a nose of cherries, leather, and vanilla. The lush palate has tastes of cherries, and burnt caramel. The finish is short and contributes to the wine's overall lack of complexity. The finish continues to turn more and more bitter. I wonder if this wine was cooked sometime in its life. 88?

August 17, 2003 - Still very fresh for 8 year old California Pinot Noir, with ultra concentrated black cherry aromas and good spice. Palate slightly less exciting, showing a bit more ripe character. Still good balance and structure. Should hold well for at least another 5 years.
