March 16, 2024 - Blueberry and blackberry bramble. Hint of black olive, almost a tapenade, along with a hint of heat, clearly higher alcohol content (I guessed 14.5-15%). Albeit balancing nicely with baking spice notes, primarily vanilla. Maddy getting a blue cheese crumble, I’m getting an earthy petrichor. Shannon getting cassis. Notes eventually transitioning to cacao, Akhil getting caramel. Dark, brooding, warming, then chilling. @ EMP

December 25, 2023 - Last bottle of my aged frogs. This was very mature but very excellent. Still sports a very youthful colour with nary a hint of bricking. Nose is more mellow, not the usual explosion of cayuse, but still some meat, smoke, green pepper, with mellow plum and currant fruit. Palate more of the same, more plum and currant fruit, some meaty, smoky notes and very soft tannins on the finish. For sure has that sweaty saddle sweetness on the finish as well. Good long length, but at peak if not a little over. Nice bottle to open on Christmas!

April 23, 2023 - A great wine that I caught on its last (frog) legs. At the core, this is a large glass of smoked plum juice that has been infused with herbs, spices and a touch of mocha from the barrel.

This doesn't have the explosiveness of younger Bionic Frogs I've had. I wonder how much of the muted power is simply a function of meeting this wine a few years too late? Either way, this was still an enjoyable wine to drink.

November 15, 2022 - Fabulous wine, fully mature! Only time I've tasted this vintage, which came from their library collection. Still garnet, slightly translucent, with powerful complex aromas of cassis, roasted meat, bacon, plums, but less of the gamey tones of their younger wines. This was smooth, round, perfectly balanced, still with excellent fruit but no tannin. The finish was also long and smooth without being too hot.

October 28, 2022 - Last of 3 purchased direct from winery. PNP & consumed over 4 hours. WOW, not what I expected after 1st 2 bottles many years ago. 18 years old & fully mature, but this bottle has 5-10 years left on it. Nose was somewhat muted & almost no funk that was present in its youth. Palate had a dense core of red & plum fresh fruit. Tannins still present, but soft & smooth. Strangely, the palate almost had a southern Rhône profile with herbs, lavender, garrigue. Savory profile.
