October 10, 2023 - Proof that great wines definitely benefit from strong growing seasons. This 1995 is not impressive by any stretch of imagination. Rather thin and relatively dull compared to what this Behemoth of a vineyard can produce in great vintages like 1990. This bottle displays a wine from an off year lacking its typical rich fruit, lacking compexity and sexappeal.

August 15, 2023 - I was surprised that the bottle was not decanted, but I trust the team. served a little more than 1½ hours after opening. This was soooooo beautiful! Lots of mint on the nose, peppery, halfway between green capsicum and black pepper. Definitely a little floral with violet notes, although we know there's no viognier in the blend. Good amount of ripe, black fruits. Sweet on the nose but not quite jammy and sugary. Showing lots of exotic spices about 2 hours after opening. A little savory now, with smoke and graphite some 2½ hours after opening. About 3½ hours later there was some leather and almost bacon fat. One of the best La La's I've had in the last few years and I'd put this at about 99 points.

July 15, 2023 - Dark, dense, ripe and rich, but also super pretty! The combination of power and elegance here is really great. This is pretty much right down the middle of what I hope to get when opening a nicely aged top northern Rhône Syrah.

December 7, 2022 - Commanderie des Costes du Rhone - Fall 2022 Intronization (Aquavit): Drinking very nicely. Very almost pretty in style. It's got a great structure, quite open, lots of spice and dark fruits. Tasty.

September 6, 2022 - Commanderie des Costes du Rhone - Fall 2022 Kick-off (Claud): I almost never think the La Landonne's are ready to drink and yet this vintage surprised me with how open for business it was. Great fruit, good age, nice style and heft to it. Often I find that there's a certain power or background sense to this producer's version of this vineyard where you are not tasting what you will taste. Here I think we might be in the drinking window. And it is a lovely wine.
