April 24, 2024 - HWS Bordeaux 2009 vs 2010 (By me): Dark berries, cedar and licorice in the bouquet. On the palate dark berries like blackberries and licorice as well, some cherries, round acidity and tannin and beautiful bitterness. Youthful wine in its adolescent stage. Will evolve for the better, more elegant stage over the next 5+ years. 92+

February 25, 2024 - Decanted for 2 hours. Aromas of saddle leather, iron, cherry, blackberry and currant. Flavors of blackberry, iron, currant, earth and mint. Ends with a long 25-30 second finish with iron and blackberry notes. Well structured and quite pleasing. Can age for another 20 easy.

January 27, 2024 - Last of 3 bottles. Decanted and paired with grilled steaks. Black in the glass. On nose, blackberry, black currants, plum, cedar and pipe tobacco. On palate, medium+ body, medium acidity, medium+ tannins (fine grained though) with a very long finish. Flavor profile on palate consistent with nose.

    Has aged beautifully. 93+

January 26, 2024 - Similar notes as before. Open for 2 hours and improved with air. Classic nose with charcoal, soil and a bit of saline. Very promising but the palate lacks energy and depth IMO. Better than last time and not a disappointment overall but just doesn’t live up to the initial impression (or the hype). Something is missing. Maybe it’s getting a little better with time.

January 20, 2024 - Friday Group Brown Bag Tasting (J&J's): Double blind. The darkest wind of the flight but this does appear to have a little age. Aromas of plum, iron, currents and a touch of tobacco. Red berry fruit and iron dominate the palate, and there’s a nice ripeness to the fruit. Medium tannins with a lingering finish. Guessed 2009 St. Julien.

I believe this was merely double decanted off its sediment perhaps two hours before it was poured. (R&D)
