September 13, 2018 - Tasted over several hours. Dark, inky black still. Throwing some sediment as well. Lots of blackberry and plum at first, campfire, garrigue, and then some red fruit emerged. Spicy raspberry licorice notes. Good acidity and very good tannic integration. Went great with food.

April 11, 2016 - Nowhere near as good as my last bottle. Little nose, though a hint of fruit. Palate was flat, oaky or perhaps stemmy, very little fruit. Finish was more like bourbon. Not to my taste.

(SAINT ANTONIN Lou Cazalet) 2010 Dear Friends, I'm going to put my money where my mouth is to showcase just how fresh and, well, fabulous the 2010 vintage is in France (south of Lyon that is – from Beaujolais north, I'm not as convinced). If you were to pick a poster-child for the stature, tannin and overall harmonic convergence that is 2010, it could be this wine - a traditional Faugeres from the schist/mineral soil of the region without any wood or oak influence of any kind. Without belaboring the point (or going on one of my diatribes), I urge all of you to try this relatively unknown entrant that (like La Gramière a few weeks ago) is set to influence an entire region with their “less is more” attitude and attraction for capturing the essence of each vintage in a bottle. If you are into old-vine Carignan, Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre, this paltry investment will make you wonder why your cellar is full of Chateauneuf du Pape - Cotes du Rhone enthusiasts may want to take a flyer on this as well. I almost forgot...the 2010 vintage in Faugeres is one of the finest vintages since 1990. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for natural blueberry/Iberico compote mixed with shavings from a chiseled rock hillside and dusted with wild scrub-brush that lingers. Drink 2012-2020+. This parcel is directly from the winery cellar with perfect provenance. VERY HARD TO FIND: 2010 Domaine Saint Antonin Faugeres “Lou Cazalet” - (this is not the Les Jardin, that is a lovely $8-9 example but it is not in this league) FIRST COME FIRST SERVED up to 24/person until we run out To order: nicki@garagistewine.com This parcel is set to depart the cave – it will arrive in the late spring (please check OARS for local pick-up after June 15th). It will ship during the Fall shipping season. Out of state orders will be held for free under ideal storage conditions (56 degrees/70%humidity) until shipping is possible. Locals may pick up at their leisure. For current local pick up and arrival/ship information, please see your OARS link below (at the bottom of this offer) - don’t know how to access your OARS? Simply click the link and see your account. You can also paste the link into your browser.
