January 18, 2022 - 12 years on, this wine from DD is a really good place, it seems to me. Despite the punchy alcohol, everything is softer and more welcoming than I remember from my last visit. With a precise nose, the mouth filling fruit is now in balance with well crafted tannins fanning out to a cool, linear and moreish finish. Understated, smooth and uncomplicated yet the simplicity and purity of this Chenade leaves you in no doubt of its artfulness. Merci, Denis. Très bon.

February 12, 2021 - Second from a case. I am going to totally contradict my note on the first bottle from 6 weeks ago. Again, popped and poured but this time it was all silky smooth, and totally enjoyable mid-tier Pomerol but clearly from a very accomplished winemaker (it is the kid brother wine of Ch. Les Cruzelles). Bought on release at US$16.50, I would happily pay US$60-70 for this in a restaurant.

December 29, 2020 - First of a case. Popped and poured, which was a mistake because this is painfully young and needs at last a 3-hour decant or another 3-5 years in the cellar. Not really drinkable at this stage but it is clear that there is some good material hidden deep in there. Have re-corked it and will report back if it opens up at all in the next day or two....it didn't, so to the back of the cellar it goes.

October 10, 2020 - My last bottle of the case and I wish I had kept the others, as this is only just into its drinking window, and still needs a one hour decant. Still a deep colour, with no sign of ageing, herbaceous nose, firm but velvety palate, with good balance of fruit and tannin, tails off a bit on the finish. No great complexity here, but a very pleasing bottle that still has life left in it.

April 5, 2020 - Bought this en primeur and have slowly began drinking over the past two years. A lovely straight forward wine which you can pnp and enjoy over the course of an evening. Quite extracted but not unpleasantly so (and I'm quite sensitive about overly extracted wines). A lovely drop without being anything extraordinary, but that's not what you expect at this price level.
