May 5, 2019 - Herbal and spicy mineral notes and plenty of underbrush. A terroir-driven wine with root vegetables and autumnal undertone

December 20, 2016 - Great, as always...; initially, one does detect hints of alcohol in the nose, but it vanishes quickly, and the wine comes as remarkably young and vibrant. It is full, dense, creamy, but with the lightness, that is 2004 - and La Sagesse. On of the best wines of this humble appellation.

November 15, 2016 - Dinner at Bar Marta (Chicago, IL): A revelation, courtesy of Steve. Certainly very dark, this is a very brooding wine. Lots of black fruit to be found here, as well as just a hint of peppercorn. The palate doesn't really show the ripe fruit as much as the nose would have you think -- in fact, this is elegant and light, with the right amount of acid to keep this wine going. A wine punching far about its appellation.

January 2, 2012 - 14.5% labeled, but comes across as higher than that...which reminds me why I rarely drink wines of the Southern Rhone. Prominent herbalness and sweetness of fruit, medium acidity, lacking interest and complexity...hits you over the head...slightly metallic. Just not my thing. Wasn't worth bringing home from France.
