January 2, 2024 - Color: medium ruby to the rim, bricking, a gray undertone
Nose: burnt pie crust, which fades away with some time. Beautiful spirit-preserved amarena note, some raspberry liqueur, mahogany, bit of porcini mushrooms and duck blood, a hint of caramel
Palate: acidity still high, tannins are smooth though somewhat perceptible. Medium body here, good balance. Confirms the nose
    Finish: medium

Another instance in which Braida proves that making barbera can be a very serious endeavor. This one is probably a little past its apogee, but if you give it a couple hours of air this still has that acidity that barbera is sought after for, and it adds a smooth edge which I find very endearing. It has complexity as well. Great for sipping or food really.

April 1, 2019 - As part of my continuing experiment into what happens to good but inexpensive wines with extended cellaring in ideal conditions lol. This one again cellared since a baby. Dense ruby to the eye. Pale pinkish ruby at edges. Fresher on the nose that the Pelissero just before it, black cherries and guava, hint of thyme. Initial taste, big smooth fruit, then an instant later a surge of fresh bright acidity, that carries though a couple of phases over the next 10 seconds, ending in woody tannins 20 seconds after. Soft medium tannins. Hits a lot of notes around the palate, and nothing unexpected spoiling it. Definitely showing well.

September 30, 2017 - This was my first Barbera d'Asti. I aerated the first glass and drank it over two days. Lots of nice berry fruit, little tannins, nice overall structure. There is a silkiness that reminds me of a good merlot. Nice finish has some length to the finish. Second day was similar to the first.

January 5, 2016 - This was a really tasty dark barbera. Lots of smooth black cherry and berry fruit. Very smooth tannins and relaxed acidity. Mature and drinking about peak.

August 2, 2015 - Note taken after 2 hours air. Nose shows faint red berry, some oxidized funk, leather, notes of thyme. Palette opens with red berry, mostly black cherry, balsamic notes and maybe faint prune, then dark berry on the medium long mostly silky finish, just faint dry tannins. Eucalyptus emerges at the very end along with some green vegetal notes that aren't too distracting, overall, a pretty good wine at peak or just beyond. Wine tasted a bit oxidized upon opening, but did come around with air. Drink soon. Stored in temp controlled cellar since purchase.
