Community Tasting Notes 3

September 12, 2020 - Dinner hosted by Ashley and Bill...playing the part of somm for the evening, wine from my cellar (Chez Schofiled - Princeton, NJ): Opened 3 bottles, served with a rum and orange birthday cake...

Dark ruby color. Big "port" nose. Wine was showing red cherry pie, maple, nuts, marzipan. Big through the mid palate...long finish

Fun to revisit this, have not tasted in 5+ years. A unique and fun wine to share with the group. Zinfandel port from California made in solara style, not something you see much of. Great way to finish an evening.

February 27, 2014 - blended with less than 1% Touriga Nacional. Very expressive nose, sweet plums, roses, rose stems, caramel, sweet cedar. Palate shows big immediate flavor, very much a wow style.

November 15, 2013 - Dinner at Chez Walker avec Lauren/Colin/Wendy/Simon/Andrea/Dave/Isobel/Jeroen: Always an interesting finish to the evening - can't think of this as a comparison to the big Port names. It's really a rich, fortified, sweet wine that is usually a crowd pleaser. Sweeter than most ports, has the dark cherry cola/candy signature.

Old vine Zinfandel made solara style (NV). Had with a fruit tort - would be great with any chocolate desserts

    Topped off a big evening.
