    March 13, 2024 - dark ruby
Med+ intensity, capsicum, dark cherry, blue berry, vanilla, toast, cinnamon, clove, dark chocolate, black olive, leather, developing.
Dry, high acidity, high alcohol, high tannins, med+ intensity, red plum, liquorice, dark cherry, dark chocolate, clove, caramel, coconut, herbal medicine, toast, full body, med+ finish.
Overall, this is a very good wine. Compared to the last bottle we had (a bit oxidised) , this one had a very good condition. Still quite young with a hints of oaky notes which is not integrated quite well yet. The wine is delicious with characters from a warm year in a good way.

January 1, 2024 - Tasting of 4 Bordeaux for New year’s Eve: Clos Badon 2010, Virginie Thunevin 2015, Grand Puy Ducasse 2009 and Fonbel 2015. Clos Badon and Virginie really stood out. Both 92-93 wines. They have excellent classic cassis, tobacco and black fruits flavors. The Virginie has the most lovely cassis nose, the Badon is a little richer in the mouth. Both are at their peak I guess.
The Grand Puy Ducasse is an 88-89 wine, more austere, very classic. It has less fruits than the first two. The Fonbel is Ok but not exceptional 87-88. Much better than a few years ago but I don’t think it will be a 90+ wine.

November 16, 2023 - App: Deep ruby with garnet ring.
Nose: med+ intensity, meaty, liqurice, coffee, chocalte, dark cherry, clove, capsicum, dark plum, developing.
palate: Dry, high acidity, high alcohol, med+ intensity, toasty, high tannins, violet, raspberry, dark chocalate, dark plum, meaty, savoury, nutmeg, full body, med+ finish.
Overall, a very good wine. After decant 2 hours, the wine developed a bit too soon considering such a good year of 2010. First impression was like St-Emillion with meaty and savoury notes dominant. A hints of capsicum spicy notes and floral notes hidden. The wine has nothing exciting at the moment, will give it a bit more time to see if it changes.

October 16, 2023 - 5th Growth Class from Bordeaux. Great vintage! 98 points according to the WA Vintage Guide! How about the wine? 60% CS, 40% Merlot, but if I would taste it blind, I said the wine is from St.Emilion. Smell - coffee, cocoa, cedar, leather, tobacco, smoke. Nice, hypnotic aromas. If I smoked opium, I would describe the mood like that ( unfortunately I didn't, except in my imagination 😕).
The taste is almost the same. Load of coffee, cocoa, black chocolate plus blackberry, blueberry, spice and a lot of tannins.
I like tannins, but this wine is too full of them. On the other hand - acidity is perfect.
13 year old wine, but either keep it about 4 hours in decanter or a few years in a cellar.

August 20, 2023 - Very pleasant surprise. Had a bottle that was perfectly stored in the same fridge for last nine years, so quite the sleeping beauty that woke up nicely after long decant. Cassis and fullness and soft-edged finish. Not too much forest floor despite the 60% cab to 40% merlot mix. Nice price too.
