January 14, 2023 - Cork was shot but managed to remove. Decanted. Drinkable. Brick red. Sipped, then chose to aerate for 1.5 hours. Unfortunately it’s past its prime. Should have opened it 3-4 years ago.

February 11, 2020 - This nearly 18 year old PN has held up well. On opening almost no nose and flavor was promising but not open. After half an hour the great Eyrie fruit, balance and wonderful nose became evident. That was my last bottle (sigh). It could probably go another few years but it is past its peak now.

September 4, 2017 - Great 2002. Opened with good nose and was drinkable in a quarter hour with wonderful expansion for the next two. I am sorry I only have one more! This wine has lots of legs. Those who thought it was done drank too soon. The Eyrie often seems disorganized and finished when it needs a few more years in the cellar.

October 24, 2016 - Popped and decanted for sediment and surprisingly there was almost none. This was was very youthful and still very dark in color. There is still plenty of primary fruit left but it is very restrained and reminds me of a good Gevrey premier cru. There were also plenty of savory earthy notes adding depth of flavor. The tannins were integrated at this point and the texture was quite smooth. I wish I had more of these to see how this develops further but unfortunately this is my only bottle.

(The Eyrie Vineyards Pinot Noir Reserve) Light medium orange red color with garnet lights; evocative tart strawberry and orange spice nose; tasty, tart, smoky, orange and tart red fruit palate with minerals and lime acidity; medium-plus finish
