April 18, 2021 - Popped 1 hour before first pour, consumed over 3 hours. Appearance: Clear, medium garnet. Nose: Clean, expressive aromas of cherry, allspice, fennel, leather, and tar with hints of sweet tobacco and roses. Palate: Dry, high acid, medium+ tannins which are fully integrated and smooth at 20 years of age, medium alcohol, pronounced flavors of cherry, herbs, leather, and tobacco with a long minute plus finish.

Overall an outstanding wine, fully developed and drinking wonderfully at this moment, exceling in all categories - balance, complexity, intensity, and length. Thank you Pio Boffa - RIP.

December 7, 2020 - Popped this on a Monday night and was blown away.. Intoxicating aroma. Fruit fading but still there. Wonderful old nebbiolo flavor without being TOO old. Med low acid. Tanins have resolved into sediment. If you have a bottle, I would drink it now.

May 1, 2020 - A beauty, clear brick-red color, beautifully restrained nose with light red berries and a hint of wet forest floor, sublime balance in the mouth, mouthfilling with a slight grip, and an aftertaste that is impossible to get rid off. Of juicy fruit and a fine humm from the tannins. All this in a wine that is 19 years old. Piedmont Nebbiolo at its best! Will be at it’s best for at least 5 years - if kept correctly.

June 20, 2017 - Lee's 40th $80+ Double Blind (Roswell, GA): Dark crimson with bright red rim, clarity; some oak influence, roses, cedar, dried fruit, menthol, licorice, slight medicinal, some orange oil; sharper on palate, very fresh acid though clearly some age, grippy tannin; still young though balance is departing just a bit in this bottle.
