December 30, 2022 - Shared with pat while vacationing at boca condo. I continue to 0rune the cellar of wines with past due drink by dates. This bottle showed very well. Fragile cork with 1/2 inch of penetration, extracted in two segments. This wine had the darkest color of anything I have ever experienced. Almost black. Generous nose. Lots of dark skin fruit. Lingering finish. Some heat. Has sufficient structure to stay alive at least another year.

May 19, 2020 - 14% abv. Darkly colored and opaque. The scent and flavors are of dark berries and the wine is slightly brooding. I believe it has reached full maturity and would not benefit from further aging. I drank this one evening with meatloaf and mashed potatoes and another evening with macaroni and cheese.

October 9, 2012 - $17.99 at Westgate Wine, Raleigh. 14% alcohol by volume. Dark purple color, opaque, viscous. Dark berry flavors, mild spiciness, lengthy finish. Rich tasting with a pleasant savory note to complement the dark berry fruit. Enough tannins for grip and probable aging; yet smooth drinking now. When held in the mouth for an extended time, there are no sour notes or misfirings. Enjoyed this with a taco dinner. Very attractive even to someone who is somewhat "picky" about this grape variety and even without food before dinner. Great QPR. Perhaps best on the second evening. I would award it 89 or 90 points.
