November 15, 2020 - So this review was on a 3L double magnum. Removed cork intact. 2hr bottle decant followed by 1hr in 2 magnum decanters. At first very tannic, acidic, ruby red color not inky purple, medium legs, short finish. Over the course of the meal the wine began to relax in the glass, developing into a very decent California Cab blend (84% cab/8% merlot/6% petite sirah/2% petit verdot). Not the powerful black fruit/cassis/oak/alcohol of a typical CA Cab. In conclusion I opened it for a wedding and it showed well but I think it was still very young and had a good 5-10years easily.

December 1, 2011 - Dark red purple color. Nice round and lush, ripe black fruits, with some earth and stones. Very solid, smooth, consistent wine.

July 11, 2011 - This wine (a blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 6% Petite Sirah and 2% Petite Verdot) was splash-decanted and serially tasted over the ensuing 2-3 hours. The robe is opaque crimson and the nose is immediately expressive of black currants, crushed blackberries, chocolate and licorice. Full-bodied on the palate, with low acidity, medium silky tannins, well-integrated alcohol (listed as 13.9%) and flavors mirroring the nose. The middle palate is solid and the medium-length finish is very smooth. This is quintessential Alexander Valley Cabernet...so easy to love! Serve this one at a party and you will never get your guests to leave. Drink now-12/16.
