Community Tasting Notes 5

August 18, 2008 - Ordered a bottle of this at Praga restaurant. $28 off the list. A dry wine with a little white pepper, stone fruit and peach notes. Not overly complex but a good crisp white which was a good match with food. 87 points.

August 9, 2007 - A good gruner, but I don't have enogh experience to determine if it lacked essential acidity.Might have tried it too warm.

November 19, 2006 - For $4, what do you want. Simple but solid, nose is GruV with a little oilyness. Floral and perfumy with a decent core of acidity. I used it for Choucroute Garnie but drank the remaining for fun.

October 17, 2006 - For $4, it was great. Typical GruV, maybe a little light.

August 9, 2006 - I used a cup of this wine for cooking into my home grown heirloom tomato/heirloom pepper soup that I accidentally turned into jambalaya by adding apple-chicken sausage, rice and a mix of dried chili and cumin. Once I got started making additions, I could not stop myself. I got this on sale at Marshall Fields for $4 a bottle and it is a shame to use it for anything but cooking. I mean, a $10 wine to cook with for $4 can't be beat. I will probably drink the rest of this bottle since I only cook with white wine once a week or so. The wine had a farily muted nose with some gardenia notes. Oily, some decent floral flavors, a little minerally, unspectacular but great for the cooking pot or cheap drinking.
