December 25, 2023 - so perfect with spicy baby back pork ribs

October 21, 2023 - Lovely young cherry and cranberry fruit with a rustic touch. It is showing age with leather, mushrooms and earth but overall, it is still quite young. It does however deliver a lot of drinking pleasure and I am impressed about the complexity and intensity. Great wine! 93-94p

January 5, 2023 - Popped 1 hour before first pour, consumed over 3 hours. Cork was saturated, came out intact with Durant. Appearance: Clear, medium garnet with edge browning, 3 glasses in showing absolutely no particle sediment. Nose: Clean, medium+ intensity with developed aromas of leather, earth, tar, dried cherry, baking spice and hints of rose petal - complexity abounds with something different showing with every swirl. Palate: Dry, solid medium+ acidic backbone, medium+ tannins are soft and smooth, medium+ intensity drives a dried cherry, cranberry, and spice mid-palate lift with tertiary leather, tobacco, and earthy notes dominating the back-end with a subtle, but long and satisfying, finish.

I believe I caught this wine at it's apex, 22 years in. A base level bottling from a highly respectable Barolo producer caught at it's absolute best moment - simply magical, lucky me!

December 30, 2022 - Decanted for 2 hours and paired nicely with a truffle risotto . Tasted great.

September 9, 2022 - Needed 1.5 hours to open. was a fine wine and as expected from a quality producer. Was tight at first, it really needed air for a few hours. Was fantastic as it opened. Can go for 5 more years.
