January 31, 2023 - 3 of 3 opened @ 3:00 brought to Marta @ 7:30. Dark ruby color, clean dark fruited nose with hints of spice and earth. Medium weight, dark cherry and violet fruited palate with fine tannins, good acidity and balance. Silky texture, nice finish.

    May 30, 2022 - Mongeard Mugneret Clos Vougeot Vertical 1983, 1988 (by Jean) 1996, 2009 (by Vincent)

The 1996 was far darker than the 1983 its initial nose showed sound fruit. After 90 minutes in the decanter this settled down to show layers of darker red fruits, minerals and baking spice. Mid weight, the vintages acidity while initially evident ultimately evolved giving the wine energy and lift. Nice persistent finish. Early maturity and given the wonderful 1983 this should improve for the next decade

    December 14, 2020 - Med Ruby
Mostly dark fruits but almost indistinguishable on the nose and palate
Mostly earthy and mushroom and the lack of fruit concentration was a bit of a disappointment here.
Acidity was still there at med but I think this wine is showing all it has

November 22, 2018 - Have not had good luck with this producer. This had a savory nose of dark fruit, celery salt and smoked/cured meats. Very nice finish with the same qualities.

November 8, 2018 - Cassis and black olive on the nose. Baked apples, black olive, macerated plums, and wet earth on the palate. High acid, which is fascinatingly contrapuntal to the desiccated fruits and secondary characteristics. Tastes new and old and the same time. Still some tannin. Fantastic length. Delicious.
