June 11, 2017 - Tasting at Léon Beyer, Eguisheim: From 75cl in LB tasting room, Eguisheim. I'm not normally a fan of statistics, but this tastes just like you'd expect an Alsace PG with 13% alc and 13g residual sugar to taste: One sip is enough, one glass is too much, and the very thought of trying to drink a second glass is appalling. Cloying stuff. 35,45 EUR. Not rated.

January 31, 2009 - This is getting spicier and richer with age. It's still got the dried fruit thing going on, but now there's some brown butter, a sort of tarte tatin aspect that is very appealing. Alas, it's my last bottle.

November 5, 2007 - Lovely VT TPG. Golden in color, very sprightly nose of dried apricots and honey. Exceptionally fresh and rather sweet without being cloying with intense peach, apricot, honey, minerals.

(Leon Beyer Pinot Gris Vendange Tardive) This really suprised everyone at the table how good it was. I will admit I prefer my Pinot Gris to be from Southern Germany and to be called Grauburgunder but this was very good. It was ripe, rich and had a nice intense lemon vibe on the palate. Good purity and balance. Matched great with the food. Toned done some of the spicey flavors. I did not spend that much time with it but the glass I had I enjoyed very much.
