Community Tasting Notes 10

September 11, 2009 - Intriguing nose of passionfruit, palate was raising eyebrows with licorice, cinnamon, and red fruits. Crowd pleasing amongst a tough crowd.

December 23, 2008 - Pretty stinky on the nose, as often the case for Yarra Yering. As others have noted, Susan noted a bit of a "tingle." Very acidic, quite sweet red cherry up front, with a long long long grapey (think Welch's grape soda) finish. Very drinkable but not really that pleasant.

September 21, 2007 - I give it 90 pts. simply because it's such a blockbuster of an Aussie pinot. Super ripe bing cherry, smoke and earth, highly concentrated and alcoholic. The exact opposite of real burgundy, but fun in a loudmouthed life of the party way. This one also had a slight spritzy quality, but it didn't really mar the wine, in fact it lightened the texture a bit. This was my last bottle.

April 8, 2007 - Flavor profile was good, but a slight effervescence (maybe a secondary fermentation?) marred the wine. One left to drink very soon.

April 1, 2007 - this is also a difficult wine for me. several present extol it's virtues, and frequently open at various local tastings. i am not on the bandwagon. it doesn't even taste like pinot to me.
