Community Tasting Notes 4

November 3, 2016 - Blind tasting of wines from Northern Rhône. Aromas of black cherries, leather, licorice, graphite, blackcurrants, black olives and a little roasted meat on the nose. The palate echoes the impression on the nose, with cherries, leather, minerality and licorice, paired with flavors of red fruits. Full-bodied, medium-plus, ripe tannins with fresh acidity and well-integrated alcohol. A more modern style and already approachable.

March 18, 2015 - Called it blind. Great forest floor, dark berries, pepper and crushed stones with some juniper and garrigue. Wish I had more.

July 8, 2013 - This was a little nondescript and closed up tight. It did improve with some air and was pleasant enough to drink, with some savory red fruits, fine dusty tannins, and a hint of spice; but it finishes a bit hot and didn't have enough going on to keep my attention. I found it difficult to identify as a N.Rhone or syrah, coming off more like a less expensive S.Rhone cuvée. Maybe it's just too young? Hold.

March 28, 2013 - Restrained and elegant, but not without power. Plenty of Syrah character, though on the savory side. Builds intensity on a full finish.
