February 23, 2023 - Compared to our previous bottle, almost seven years ago, this has settled down a bit. The flamboyant tropical fruit remains, perhaps with mango now leading the charge, but it's a bit more mellow and rounded on the palate. With that said, assertive foods are still required to keep this at bay. A tangy tamarind chicken was just about right.

December 24, 2022 - Troptisk frukt og hint av petroleum. I munnen mild sitrus, mandarin og appelsin. Deilig fruktfylde og frisk ettersmak med hint av after eight som sitter en stund.

September 11, 2022 - Nice and well balanced. Very sweet on entry with a pretty nose but lacking in depth and complexity to merit a higher score. Still, enjoyable Spätlese.

March 3, 2017 - Fairly deep golden yellow. Honeyed nose of pineapple, flowers. Very ripe palate of ripe orange, pineapple, tropicals and a bitter/tart note, perhaps of watermelon rind. The attack is quite sweet and honeyed (Auslese levels, certainly), but with good acid for balance. Ripe, fruit forward. Very good.

April 23, 2016 - Pop and pour. In the glass, deep, clear yellow-gold, verging on orange. On the nose, crushed fruit and secondary notes of sea breeze. On the palate, an explosion of tropical fruits, led by passionfruit, mango, and oranges. There is ample sweetness here, but it's the fruit that leads the way, and it borders on being too much of a good thing; this wine is going to overpower a lot of foods. Next time, I need to try this with some spicy curries.

    December 30, 2014 - NOSE > Big, musky, creamy, tight & exotic fruit stuffed nose. Lime-flesh/lime-oil, nectarine, wet river-rocks, yellow-peach, morrello-cherry, stone, slate, crushed-rock, honeysuckle, star-fruit, & gala-apple.
Beautiful vein of Botrytis is mostly subsumed by the avalanche of tight, exotic, intense fruit.
    PALATE > Big, intense, sweet, musky, fresh orchard & citrus-fruit. Tons/waves of tight & exotic fruit, with apricot/tart-apricot, pink-grapefruit, lime-flesh/lime-oil, yellow-peach, quince, & nectarine. Big/intense.
Pretty big, rich/savory sweetness reigned in by substantial acidity. Nice undertone of clean Botrytis.
    Med+ depth & length.
Finishes tight, with lime, tart-apricot, & crushed-rock. Drinks much drier than it is, with fruity acidity cleaning the palate, while leaving strong eddies & echoes of the cornucopia of tart, stony, exotic fruit.
    Love the combo of tight/tart-fruit + exotic + stony/slatey.
    Great length, depth, & intensity.
These better 2010's are really something else.
    (94+)

January 11, 2014 - I agree with Salil's assessment. This wine is just a touch too ripe and sugary. I'm not sure it'll ever come together. The problem is that it's too sweet to pair with food yet it's not a dessert wine. Perhaps drinking this very cold might help it out.

October 17, 2013 - This is a good, middle-of-the-road Spätlese with appreciable sweetness but little depth or complexity. I would expect more at this price point. Mosels like this can be had in some abundance under $20, but this one was priced originally at $35, on sale for $25.

    August 25, 2012 - Holy Crap.
I usually like that soft Schaefer version of this vineyard, but this is HIGH strung and I love it.
Same Domprobst nose of vanilla and peaches but with crazy concentration and acid. Every time I drink a bottle of 09 or 11 German riesling it makes me miss 10 even more. This is great. The length is superlative and the concentration is amazing. Winemaking top notch. I love it.

July 30, 2012 - Riesling Blind Tasting (My Home): At first, the nose was almost a little Sauternes-ish is terms of richness and aromatics with a lot of exotic fruits, apricot and pineapple. Thick texture but rather balanced. The acidity is kicking back nicely on the finish.
Not a bad wine but needs more years to digest the RS better.
