December 24, 2022 - Dark purple color. The nose was packed with plums, dark cherry, green tobacco, and green beans. The flavor profile was complex with dark fruit and complementary herbal notes. This was full-bodied with balanced acidity and some tannic backbone. Overall, this was a revelation, a wine with ample fruit and a complex flavor profile highlighting green tobacco and herbs. Really a lovely wine in an old school way and slightly more intensity that its younger sibling, the 2006.

January 16, 2014 - I was harsh on this. Developing a nice graphite edge, cassis palate and a nice weightlessness and balance.

February 10, 2013 - Maybe 90 was too far. I have a favorite from this area, Hartenburg Shiraz, so when I compare the two it falls short. That being said it has that familiar bertamiasis flavor that I have grown to love, it's rich and has a mysterious story I would love to hear. The sugar on the tongue tells me it isn't honest and true, but on a night I don't mind being lied too this wine will suffice. It's a thick body, probably had some kind of additive to please the palate, mostly natural though. It's richness is deceitful, because the ending doesn't last long. If you have any in the cellar, drink it now. It's only a

July 14, 2012 - After an hour open beautiful dark cigar wrapper. Blk Currants vanilla mineral and an inky ashy tone. Medium bodied with great forward acid and body. Flavors continue from the nose with a touch of warmth from the alcohol that just masks finish.

March 9, 2010 - Ditto Tanzer. Sweet, forward, lush texture with balancing acidity. The sweetness isn't OTT like some young ozzie shiraz, but it's pervasive - the wine exhibits remarkably little complexity and certainly none of the graphite tones I associate with good South African Cab. As sweet grape juice: 100points. As wine (in which I hope to find complexity, minerality, nuance) 82(??)pts. I'd imagine many novice palates would rate this towards the first number.
