November 9, 2013 - Had in a vertical 2000, 2001, 2002. 2001 the best of the three. All three are headed out

November 27, 2009 - For 1/3 the price, I might have had something remotely glowing to say about this wine but for $75?..C'mon! Bill, you're WAY too proud of yourself! Since the time that this wine was gifted to me about 3 years ago, I've had a plethora of Cali Syrahs that blow this wine away; and most can be had at the aforementioned, less-than 1/3 the price. Sweet with non-descript acidity and only medium length. I've got nothing more to say...

June 11, 2009 - We had the unexpected gift of the kids being gone on overnight sleepovers, so we dashed off to eat some Indian food. We needed a big, bold wine that could hold up to the curry-heavy food. This was the perfect match. This is an extremely well made wine. Wonderfully open fruit, with some big underlying complexity, and a nice smooth finish. A tad of underlying sweetness, and everything in balance. A very good wine.

February 5, 2006 - This wonderful Syrah is just seamless, yet packed to the gills. On the nose, anise, smoke, and a hint of vanilla. The intense fruit palate is oh-so-smooth for such a young wine, with nice espresso notes perfectly intertwined with the thick, rich, spicy fruit. Soft round tannin aplenty, yet in seemingly perfect balance with the fruit and alcohol (14.5% according to the label). Not cheap - just under $80 from the winery - yet well worth the ticket.
