Community Tasting Notes 10

June 29, 2022 - Pronounced nose intensity with notes of red fruits, char wood, spices. Medium+ acidity and medium tannin.

June 8, 2021 - Still remarkably deep red in colour, muted nose of earthy red fruits and a distinct aroma of Pomerol! The palate is a bit harsh and rustic!

February 21, 2020 - We enjoyed this wine with a freshly made soup of ham hock and white beans and it was definitely a 1 + 1 = 3 enhancement. On first nose and taste there was an immediate aroma of earth and even truffles, reminding me of that typical “European earthiness.” Though almost 20 years old this wine is still tasting fresh, interesting, and distinctive, i.e not like every other wine, which is good.

August 24, 2014 - Château Certan-Marzelle has been under the ownership of Christian Moueix since 1999. 2000 represents the first vintage under his management, and is comprised of 100% Merlot, and it’s a tiny operation with little more than 1000 cases. Aromas of plum, forest floor and cedar waft from the glass. Medium-bodied and supple, with brisker-than-expected acidity and tannins. Another 5-6 years of cellaring seems possible. Deeper notes of cherry liqueur, steeped blackberry and wet wood, and the finish is of moderate length. Overall, a pleasing Bordeaux.
