October 22, 2020 - This is so gorgeous!
Dark fruit, graphite, leather, smoke, spice, so many layers!
I often find Las Cases austere, but this is open, warm and generous.
Don't get me wrong, it is still serious and has lots of power, but this is really delicious now.

October 12, 2020 - This time did a proper decant and aerated for 90 minutes. Dark ruby red, slight bricking throughout the body of the wine. Noble cassis nose, leather, black currants, brambles, spice and some rocks. Powerful yet so elegantly crafted, amazing structure and complexity, delineation and precision although not as much as the 1990. Long sweet finish with tannins still present but very fine and fully coated by the fruit. Wow two more bottles left. One of the most hedonistic LLCs I’ve ever had the pleasure to drink.

October 6, 2020 - As close to perfect as I would have imagined. Fresh, intact, in contrast with Bordeaux I’ve tasted with half the age. Decanted off sediment for about 1/2 hour. Beautiful ruby color and classic Bordeaux aromas- cassis, currant, cigar box, burnished leather. Also red raspberries, ripe and just picked in the sun, and black raspberry coulis. On the palate the wine gains power and dark fruit concentration. Mint and baked green pepper, firm tannins, layers being revealed as the wine opened up in the glass. 13.5% alcohol. A joy to drink.

September 18, 2020 - Drank alongside an '89 Talbot. Incredibly similar - both wonderful although a bit austere. Both could use a few more yrs!

September 2, 2020 - Wow best bottle so far! Ruby red with hardly any bricking. There is first growth nobility in the nose and density of this amazing wine. Lots of dark red and black fruits, candied raspberries, leather, graphite, olive tapenade, and menthol. Best to decant and aerate for an hour then drink over two hours or so. The most forward of any LLC I have tasted even more so than the 82 and 86. Extremely concentrated, finely structured wine, rich palate, starts a bit saline but then balances out beautifully, great acidity and dark red fruits mid palate, hints of cassis, and a lingering long finish with tannins emerging ever so late in the slightly sweet cassis finish. Truly a joy.
