December 20, 2019 - Hmm. Apparently I thought other btls of this I drank with friends were from my stash. I wonder how many.of these I have left. Pop and pour...though the cork disintegrated as I popped, and I couldn't even salvage it with the durand. Anyway, lovely btl. Spicy, animal, leathery NSG nose, with some caramel toast in the background. On the palate, fantastic acidity, dried raspberry, caramel, nuits funk. A touch of tangy heat and some real, slightly grainy tannin on the finish. Completely mature, and perfect with our pork loin roast. Flat out gorgeous.

September 1, 2017 - Fully mature. Enticing nose with some macerated red fruit, a hint of nuits animal, and tertiary wet leaf with a hint of oak spice. On the palate, soft and shows unfiltered with more spice, black tea and pomegranate. Some very soft chalky tannin on the finish. Very yummy.

December 18, 2012 - This looked it’s age and had a very elegant and balanced nose. The vintage came to the fore on the palate with rustic tannin and a little astringency but had a lovely aftertaste. This was quite nice and is drinking pretty well right now.

January 9, 2007 - This was a good bottle of this wine. I have had this several times in the past few months in mixed company so this evening I was excited to have a chance to focus on this wine. I detect a definite orange hugh to the rim. The nose is open and offers orange peel, clove, black licorice and peat. The nose is starting to offer the brambly, tingly quality that mature red burgs have. The palate is firm but softening and I get the sense that this wine is emerging from an adolescent funk. I sense tension between elegance and rusticity on the palate. The fruit is great and almost sweet in one sip and then becomes somewhat hard and angular with the next. This is not Volnay. Still, Chevillon did a great job in '98 and this wine is very nice.
