  January 16, 2021 - sophisticated and elegant, but definitely on the downhill. it sparkled for 15 minutes and quickly faded. vinous, but I love old champagne, so was a pleasure for me, but not for everyone I am sure.

  July 27, 2019 - Q3 - 2019 Tasting - Vintage Champagne - Pre-2000 (New York, NY): 14/14 wines tasted double blind. This was a dupe in the line up, but the bottle was showing significantly differently. Actually one of my top four in the line up today. Tasting very bright and fresh, with tart apple and a fine mousse - long finish. Had nice lift and energy - surprised this was a '93. 7 pennies voted by group - 1 penny voted by me.

  July 27, 2019 - Q3 - 2019 Tasting - Vintage Champagne - Pre-2000 (New York, NY): 3/14 wines tased double blind. This same wine/vintage was in the tasting line up twice at spots 3 and 14 - I think this bottle may have been off. The nose on this was a bit off-putting to me, with a lactic goat cheese smell. On the palate, there were minimal bubbles and the wine was very oxidized and over the hill. I suspect poor storage. 0 pennies voted by the group.

It's compatriot did not do so well in the number 3 spot but this was a favorite of the tasting. I wonder if there wasn't some of where it was located. This came on the heels of a wine showing some age and when this showed some itself it wasn't quite as jarring. Some tart. Some caramel. Some more oxidized notes. Overall quite drinkable though and prob just slightly on the downswing. Enjoyed. (7 pennies)

  July 27, 2019 - Q3 Wine Club | Pre-2000 Vintage Champagne (The Apt): Wine #3: The second of our doubled up wines and I do wonder if this one suffered a bit coming on the heels of the '98 Corbon that was just so open and fresh. This was almost the exact opposite. Much more oxidized. There were tangy notes to it. At times it reminded me a bit of chewing on a boating rope. I liked it, but it definitely required a particular mood to it. (0 pennies)
