    March 4, 2024 - Beauty!!

Been about 6 or so years since my last bottle. This has come along nicely since then.

Structure still the same, great. Superb balance and very giving. I'd say this is starting to get into its drinking window but needs a long decant.

I opened at about 3pm and slow oxed 3hrs. Was staying in a hotel so didn't have a decanter, unfortunately. Decanted at the restaurant at 6:30. Started to get into it @ 7:30, had a wonderful bottle of 04 Dom to start.

Aroma A++ After an hour this started to show fabulous balance. Last glass an hour later was singing like an opera star. It was really strutting. I could be under valuing this at 94. Others at the table were in the "wow" phase and placed it at 97 and 95. I would say if this had been decanted 3-4 hours prior to dinner it would have gained a few extra points.

It just kept getting better and better during the evening. One of those wines where if a glass was somehow forgotten about or everyone was too snookered and left a half glass on the counter, next morning it would be even better.

This wine will last decades. Its a gorgeous. Layered smooth mellow acidic. Notes of white tea, black tea, chrysanthemum, tobacco, cherry etc. Nice orchestra ))

April 20, 2023 - Tasted at Domaine with Etienne Grivot. Nose dark fruits with sweet autumn leaves and touch of earth. Some menthol? Rich, concentrated dark fruit. Spices, some earth and some nuttiness. Drinking very well.

July 4, 2022 - Slow oxidized for about 3 hours before serving. This was quite elegant and well balanced. Light in all the right ways, a more refined style than many Clos Vougeot, like a Chambolle-Musigny. Such a contrast to the '10 Meo Clos Vougeot tasted several months back, which was oaky and impenetrable.

I was surprised to see a tinge of bricking at the edges. The wine has plenty of upside for bottle age, but it looks a bit farther along than I might have expected. Indeed it looks more mature than '10 Grivot Beaux Monts, which I've had several times over the past few years and remains primary. Drink now or anytime over the next decade and it should be lovely.

January 2, 2022 - I’ve had a few 2010 Grivot Echezeaux and Clos Vougeot and all of them were reductive to a faulty level.. decanting doesn’t help, left it for 24 hours after double decanting it, reduction eventually blew off but the fruits are gone as well.. if you have one of their 2010, might be worth just keeping in the cellar and pray that the reduction will blow off in 10 years time!
P.S. this reduction was only detected in 2010, also Mathilde’s first vintage.

December 17, 2021 - Tried this on the basis that the same producers Roncieres '10 was singing when we tried it. The nose was promising with deep red and black fruits and some sous bois. The palate was very tightly wound at this stage and not giving much away. The good news is that there was a small amount left in the bottle the next day and a crafty slug revealed a big mouthful of intense dark fruit. Will be a seriously good and weighty GC in time. No point in trying another in less than five years.
