Community Tasting Notes 10

December 3, 2021 - Dinner at Pintxos Bar by Basque Kitchen (Basque Kitchen by Aitor, Singapore): An ex-domaine bottle, this was drinking far better than I would expect from a Crianza at this age. The nose was rather funky at first, but opened up with time to show lovely notes of earth and cigarette smoke, dark cherries and berries, with a lovely twist of florals and peppery spice at the edges. Very nice. The palate was lovely too. Probably just at the very end of its peak drinking window, this had lovely soft tannins and still nicely bright, fresh acidity wrapped around a lovely pure core of glowingly sweet cherries and dark berries, with a little trail of cigarette smoke and peppery spice trailing away into a nicely lengthy finish. On the lighter, being a Crianza, but with a sneaky amount of quiet complexity and intensity. Very yummy.

May 26, 2019 - Ripe and earthy, with nice complexity and an elegant feel. Still holding up.

October 30, 2010 - Touch of tawny color, but still with fruit forward flavor. Taste of cherry and leather with a poop of black sesame

August 21, 2010 - 13% ABV. Translucent ruby with a hint of tawny in the glass. Reticent on the nose initially with light leather and tobacco notes. Medium bodied with tangy red fruit, somewhat currant-like. Pleasant, and somewhat reminiscent of a light aged Bordeaux, but not much more.
