Community Tasting Notes 3

February 19, 2017 - I agree with the assessment that it can age for many more years despite some bricking. However, it probably will not improve the score with age. Left a little in a glass (uncovered) and the next day was still drinking fine. Restrained dark fruits. Minerality. Crushed limestone. Not very complex. And did not evolve with decanting and drinking over 4 hours. The little I left for the next day was drinking very close as it had the night before.

October 31, 2015 - Slight bricking, otherwise light ruby in color. Secondary aromas developing on the nose; smoke, pinetree etc. Palate quite youthful, slightly harsh tannins that blew off after about 1 hr. Very enjoyable after a thorough decant, glad I have some left to drink over the years as I believe this is quite some way from its peak.

February 15, 2012 - This is a juicy, generous Barolo (100 percent Nebbiolo) that currently comes across as more accessible than most of the other 2007 Barolos. (A special ‘Pinart’ selection, only 300 bottles produced). Decanted: one hour prior to tasting. The wine was aged for 24 months in both barriques and 5 hectoliter barrels. Beautiful red-violet in color with expressive aromas of dark cherries, plum, tar and a sweet touch of licorice. Made in a fruit-driven style, this wine offers layers of ripe red and black fruit, a remarkable harmony and already well-integrated tannins. Long, elegant finish. It is superbly drinking now, but can certainly be enjoyed until 2016.
