Community Tasting Notes 5

January 1, 2016 - I see there aren't many reviews on the 2003 so let me lay out the Truth.

If tasted blind, I would think this is a young wine like about 2010. This wine is bold, massive, and tannic despite it being 13 years of age.

I get menthol, black fruits, heat, alcohol on the nose letting me know that this one is packin' some fire. On the palate, it's very big and I like it. Finishes off with some heat but good heat and that went away with further decanting. Also some floral notes on the back end. What's interesting about this wine is that I preferred the taste at Pnp rather than after 4 hrs of decant. It got a little grapey after long decant. However, this wine is a winner. No complaining about it. Awesome Shiraz. RP - 98pts.

November 30, 2012 - multiple tastings have been musty and corked

July 25, 2011 - Classic shiraz with spicy notes of black pepper. Agree with huntly on lovely purple color. Enjoyed thoroughly with a spicy Asian dinner. Surprised to the upside.

April 23, 2011 - A lovely inky purple color followed by a somewhat stiff nose of red berries and cedar. The mid-palate has real complexity with tar, herbs, earth and a serious tannin structure holding in the rich berry. The finish is long, but with a preponderance of acid.

We very much enjoyed this. One of the few wines that can stand up to a korean BBQ, but it would be great if it had a bit less acidity and some softer tannins. The natural Syrah flavors are abundant and beautifully expressed.

December 27, 2009 - Aussie lovers may really like this but still too jammy for me
