Community Tasting Notes 5

July 27, 2013 - Saturday Get Together (My Place): Rich, polished, and textured this had a lot going on. The fruit was unctuous...apricots, peach, mangos...just a lot of tropical fruits. The acidity wasn't overly biting, so I'm unsure how much longer these will be sticking around. Really nice this day, though.

July 6, 2012 - Friday Afternoon at Domaine (Domaine Wine Storage): This wine really surprised me. I've had a bunch of disappointing 2003s from the likes of Hirtzberger and Alzinger that were just warm and flat. This, however, had great finesse and energy on the palate. Awesome pears, white peach and citrus on the palate. Great acidity, nicely balanced.

November 19, 2010 - Nose of dried pears & apple chips, a hint of minerality, and a layer of white florals beneath. Medium bodied in the mouth with a good texture, vibrant crisp acidity, and pure white & yellow fruit flavors. Finish adds in some citrus and has significant length.

October 2, 2010 - (September 25, 2010, Terragusto) This has an intriguing mineral nose without any real petrol notes at this point. A delight on the palate, with just dazzling minerality and precision, and long length but no sense at all of excess alcohol or ponderous weight--I'd be hard pressed to guess this to be a 2003.

The second day, the wine was a more focused version of the first and if anything all its elements seemed more in balance, indicating that this should last quite a while. Just brilliant wine: it would be hard to get better than this.

September 25, 2010 - Super wine. Fantastic minerality and cut, outstanding depth of flavor and fullness without excessive weight. Drinking wonderfully now, or later.
