Community Tasting Notes 9

July 31, 2021 - Acquired recently from a reliable retailer. Opened and followed for about two hours. Initially, the wine had some dark fruit and plenty of tertiary elements including leather, tobacco, and even some graphite. Over time, the tertiary elements began to dominate, making it come across as past peak.

May 15, 2020 - With some mint and green and yet still powerful fruit on the nose. Palate has a savory edge. Delicious.

November 29, 2019 - Friendsgiving Dinner (Riverwoods, IL): Mature black plum and cherry with cedar, green pepper and eucalyptus hits. Good weight and length, perhaps slightly drying on finish. Another wine I oddly preferred more than most other tasters tonight.

August 1, 2019 - Opened and drank about 40 minutes after, it was a bit acid at first, after a few minutes it opened up and showed a darker and earthy side. It’s softening (obviously) but I think it can last another 5+ years.

February 28, 2018 - Wow! Still drinking strong. A powerful and beautifully nuanced California cab. Opened about an hour before drinking, not decanted.
