January 16, 2023 - Exceptional bottle. Had the same bottle from the same cellar last year and this one was a touch better. Slow Ox'd for a couple of hours and served/drank over a couple more. Probably hitting peak and no slowing down anytime soon. You're fortunate if you still have a bottle(s). Drink now with confidence or continue to hold for many years.

March 16, 2022 - Deep ruby color, more blackberry and darker fruits, some black cherry, super silky and smooth, still youthful, full mid-palate; big tannins, full bodied, and still ripe character after almost 20 years; gorgeous wine if not a bit too big and ripe but typical of the vintage. Zachy's Burg Wine Dinner at AOC.

August 17, 2021 - Single blind tasting. 03 DRC Riche, 01 Ponsot CdlR, 01 Potel Gaudichots, 00 Vogue BM. My rank 1st, group rank 1st. Decanted for 2 hours, nose is beautiful as notes of sandalwood, spice, clove and red fruit soar from the glass. The palate is deep and rich, very young but not at all extracted or pruney like many 03s can be. Red fruited, texture is a bit glossy and there are some back end tannins. Overall well balanced and probably the best 2003 red burgundy that I've had. This easily will hold/improve for 20-30 years. Maintained but did not improve in the glass. Impressive.

January 13, 2021 - Dinner with Three decades of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Richebourg (State Street Manor - Chicago IL): In 95/03/14 vertical. Stunning and complex array of aromas showing blue, black and red berries with slightly more sweet vs savory spice. While not classically an elegant “DRC Richebourg,” this is an absolutely entrancing and alluring powerhouse with impressive density. Great now, with enough structure to drink well as it evolves over the next few decades.

February 9, 2020 - Sommelier Appreciation Dinner 2020 (The Brown Residence): Clearly expressing the 03 ripeness, cherry liqueur, dry cherry, leather, sweet spices and earth. Exceptional concentration, rich and fat, medium acidity, earthy mineral, and a medium to long very ripe and slightly dry red cherry fruit driven finish. It taste more like Rayas than Richebourg.

(Romanée-Conti Richebourg) The only wine today that reluctantly welcomes your nose - quite closed, only slowly, slowly evolving a deep, coffee edged, savoury plum aspect. Given time this perspective becomes broader and more spice inflected but never quite matching the openness of the other wines. Again this is a wine where the palate is dominated by its weight of extract, bettering the RSV and equalling the GE for length. The tannins are just a little less astringent than those from the RSV. I find the wine incredibly impressive, yet somehow not as compulsive as the GE.
