September 6, 2021 - Epic Bordeaux for an Epic Birthday!; 9/1/2021-9/12/2021 (Paris & Bordeaux): Opened and decanted before we left for dinner so it probably had 2-3 hours before we were drinking it. A bit more refined than the 2000 we had next to it this was the more approachable of the two although still more dark and brooding style of fruit.

April 10, 2021 - I was pretty underwhelmed by this; and it felt like the winemaker was going through the motions. Had some ripe prune notes, but was not modern, just lacking in verve. It mellowed out after a couple of hours but remained lacklustre. This estate has unique limestone terroir in a prime location. In that context this is poor. It seems like Canon has improved in recent vintages.

January 2, 2020 - This bottle showed remarkably well. Mild bricking with aromatic nose of old library, leather and tobacco. Not the weightiest on the palate but still with cool dark fruit with minimal prune notes and no roasted effect. The finish was medium, balanced and soft. It was a quintessential Bordeaux to show a few friends what aged wine is like. Quite a bit of sediment in the bottle by the end, so stand and decant. Lost a little steam on day #2 but still a fantastic little wine. I think this one is ready for consumption.

I find "off" vintages such as this one frequently offer top value. 2012 will be much the same way.

November 20, 2019 - Excellent, finesse et équilibre sont au rendez-vous, parfumé et plutôt léger sur ses pieds.
    A point.

    June 12, 2019 - À maturité, donne beaucoup de plaisir, surtout bu à 16 C.
Grenat foncé, légèrement plus clair sur les bords, suave, élégant et très équilibré, tanins totalement intégrés.

(Chat Canon) #4; VaynerPAZZZ; COLOR-dark; NOSE-nice dark chocolate; little hints of cherries which is pretty; reminds me of IHOP syrup; TASTE-a slightly more elegant finish than the '04 Haut Brisson, but not as interesting on the palate; a little over-oaked; very driven by chocolate covered cherries; little bit of plum; solid, but go for the Haut Brisson at half the price; WS-90; GV-89+
